RePOS team member Prof. Dr Ljiljana Vasilevska gave a lecture within the Interreg program "Natured", where one of the partners is the Regional Development Agency "Jug" from Niš, on Nature-based Solutions

On the premises of RRA South, 23.12.2024 the first of five scheduled local seminars was held within the project “NATURED- Nature-Based Solutions for Just Resistance in the Cities of the Adriatic-Ionian Region”.

Complex connections between the urbanization processes and climate change, the impact of human activities and urban morphology on the urban environment-especially the creation of urban heat islands and the occurrence of urban flooding, were the topics of this seminar aimed at city government officials, public companies and institutions and experts in the field of urbanism and urban planning.

Dr. Ljiljana Vasilevska, a full professor from the Department of Urbanism and Spatial Planning of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in Niš, spoke to us about understanding the interaction between climate and cities and the importance and possibility of applying nature-based solutions, which are being explored in the RePOS project.

Due to the increasingly frequent situations related to urban floods in the city of Nis, the focus has been on managing urban rainfall and reducing the risk of flooding and the negative effects of climate change, as well as the importance and application of nature-based solutions in planning and construction.

We would like to thank everyone for participation and interesting and constructive discussion!

Project Natured is supported through the Interreg IPA ADRION program within the Interreg funds (European Fund for Regional Development and IPA III).
